On May 17, 2018, a diverse assembly of thought leaders and community builders in the Region of Peel will meet to enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at the opulent Grand Victorian Convention Centre, in recognition of International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOT).
This year’s IDAHOT Breakfast theme, We Belong: Voices of Youth, will explore the role we can all play in nurturing a sense of belonging for LGBTQ youth in the Region of Peel. Building on the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural event, we will discuss the day’s significance in our communities with the aim of generating forward-moving momentum in challenging homophobia, transphobia and other barriers to inclusion in corporate, political, social, cultural, religious, and recreational spheres.
Attendees will enjoy presentations by an exciting roster of speakers, made up of noteworthy individuals who have achieved great acclaim as a result of their contributions to advocacy efforts around LGBTQ inclusion. Riveting, youth-led performances will explore the themes of gender diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
LGBTQ communities belong in the Region of Peel, a community that strives to be a safe, respectful, and inclusive place for all of its residents to call home. Join us for We Belong: Voices of Youth, International Day Against Homophobia Breakfast 2018, to make your voice heard in the movement to enhance LGBTQ inclusion in the Region of Peel.
