{Youth Video Project} The Peel HIV/AIDS Network has been developing a youth media campaign which is titled Keep it the Craze: Get tested within the last 7 months. In December the video finished shooting and now its in the editing stages. Thank you to all the youth, actors and PHAN volunteers involved in the project, your support, efforts and knowledge have made the video that much more successful. The focus of the video is looking at ways to encourage youth to get tested and to be aware of their sexual rights. The launch of the video which is a youth focus event will be premiering on Wednesday February 26th 2010 bring your friends to this youth oriented event at the Living Arts Centre (4141 Living Arts Drive, Mississauga) - across the street from Square One. {Leading Together 6th Annual Skills Building Symposium} The Peel HIV/AIDS Network has been accepted to present a workshop at the Leading Together 6th Annual Skills Building Symposium held by Canadian AIDS Society in Montreal on March 4 to 7th. The agency will be presenting on the development of the Youth Video Project. The workshop will be focused mainly on the success, development process and how to mobilize a targeted population creating a media campaign to that group . The PHAN representatives who will be representing the agency at the conference our Kevin Rambally Health Promotion & Community Education Coordinator & Howard Fruitman Men’s Health & Community Educations Coordinator.

{“Disclosure of HIV Status to Children” Workshop} The AIDS Committee of Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo and Area is pleased to invite you to our "Disclosure of HIV Status to Children" workshop being held on Friday January 29th from 12:30pm-3pm at Mosaic Counselling and Family Services (400 Queen St. S, Kitchener). Experienced workshop presenters will offer information, strategies and best practices regarding the disclosure of an HIV positive child's HIV status to the child, as well as strategies for situations where an HIV positive parent or guardian wishes to disclose their HIV status to a child. There is no cost to attend this workshop, lunch is provided and there will be ample opportunity for questions and answers! {Session on Immigration Issues} The Newcomer Information Centre is hosting a session that will assist newcomers in understanding immigration issues including sponsoring your family, financial evaluation, immigration fees, how to become a Canadian Citizen, the citizenship test and new rules for citizenship and immigration. {ESL Classes} The Peel District School Board runs English as a Second Language classes in Mississauga, Malton and Brampton. The Non Credit Adult ESL Classes have qualified instructors at the low cost of $30.00 for a 10-week session. The classes are held in convenient locations in Brampton, Bramalea, Malton and Mississauga with flexible schedules during the day, night and weekends. {Growing as parents program} The program will provide you with the opportunity to build life skills and personal development. The sessions are held every Friday at two locations for free –Bramalea Civic Centre, 150 Central Park Dr. Unit 101 Brampton (9:00 am – 11:00 am) or Tomken Public School, 316- Tomken Rd. Mississauga (1:00 pm – 3:00 pm). Light snack/bus tickets are provided and free child minding is available on site. {Understanding Postpartum Mood Disorder} Join Brian Russell who will help dads understand and better support their partners living with PPMD. Moms will meet separately with the MPCRC facilitators. {Punjabi Community Health Services} Punjabi Community Health Services operates out of 4 locations in Peel and offer a wide variety of services to the Punjabi community.  They have a family enhancement program that provides parenting, individual and family counselling, domestic violence programs and mental health and addictions programs. {Square One Youth Centre} The Square One Youth Centre has moved to its new location at 300 City Centre Drive, Second Floor, Mississauga L5B 3C1. The Youth Centre will continue its culture of youth engagement under the new name of the Nexus Youth Centre. The Community is invited to join them for their grand re-opening on Thursday, January 21st in the Youth Centre’s new location in the Central Library.  As part of the celebration we are having an Open House from 1:00 to 5:00 pm and hope that you will be able to attend.

{Youth Beyond Barriers} The Youth Beyond Barriers program at Associated Youth Services of Peel currently offers two weekly support groups for LGBT youth aged 12 - 18 in Mississauga and Brampton. They also provide one-to-one support and guidance for youth, as needed. They are now extremely pleased to announce the creation and development of a new group for Trans or gender variant youth. {Prism} Family Services of Peel and Catholic Family Services Peel-Dufferin have created a new support program called Prism. It aims at tackling the under-identified, under-served and frequently misunderstood issue of men who have been abused in childhood. Men who have been abused in childhood can come forward and get help by calling Prism at 416-301-1196. Prism assures everything will be dealt with in the strictest confidence. {Ontario Osteoporosis Screening Coordinator} Osteoporosis Canada (OC), a registered charity, is the only national organization serving people who have, or are at risk for, osteoporosis. OC works to educate, empower and support individuals and communities in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

The role of the Osteoporosis Screening Coordinator (OSC) is to screen for fragility fracture patients in the fracture clinic environment and provide appropriate support to connect these patients with primary care and community-based services as needed. The OSC will also work with the orthopaedic surgeons, allied health professionals and fracture clinic staff to raise their awareness of patients’ need to follow up with their family physician after a fracture, for osteoporosis assessment and treatment.
One full-time position in specified fracture clinics within Toronto and one part-time position (3 days/week) in fracture clinics in the Brampton Area. Please specify which positiong you are applying for.
Salary: $41,000 for full-time (pro-rated for part-time) plus benefits

{PAR South Clubhouse Mental Health Worker} The Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch is recruiting for the PAR Clubhouse Program, which provides a rehabilitation day program to adults with serious mental illness.

This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) is available in the Brampton Clubhouse. The Mental Health Worker is required to work on some evenings for social recreational activities, at least one Saturday per month and some public holidays such as Easter, Canada Day, New Year’s Day etc since the Clubhouse mandate and standards require the Clubhouse to be open during these times to provide activities for clients.

{HEAL Program Supervisor} The Heal (Helping End Abuse for Life) Network is a collaboration of 18 social service agencies within Peel region who are dedicated to providing services for children, age’s newborn to 16 years who have witnessed woman abuse. The lead agency is Catholic Family Services Peel-Dufferin.

The Program Supervisor coordinates the development and delivery of The HEAL Network program and services. This position supervises clinical and administrative staff, interns, students and volunteers.
Salary: 35 hours ($55,455 - $66,130)
